Banksy, notorious, well-known and probably the best graffiti artist this side of the pond. As well as providing interesting, ingenious and humorous wall art, Banksy also challenges our perception of the every day by turning the ordinary into arguably great pieces of art. He certainly towers above many conceptual artists in Britain today. Much of his art makes a serious point about society and does so with alacrity and humour.
Banksy says “It’s crazy, we outlaw graffiti, but allow corporations to plaster messages all over walls, trains, and buses”. Well there is probably a case for both, (take Northern Ireland for example). |
